I did something insructive as to why there is such massive misunderstanding of the issue that is the real core of the Rev. Wright (Obama's church) controversy. I typed the words 'James Cone" into the search engines of the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Sun Times and CNN.
Outside of a couple mentions in online blogs, virtually nothing.
All there is among these five very important nationally known media outlets is one article in the Washington Post which references Cone as the founder of Black Liberation Theology. An article in which Cone praises Wright as the person who took "my words out of the book and into the church".
James Cone has written racist things about the subject of religion, some of which have posted in other threads here at Newsvine. Apparently we will have to revisit the subject.
I was kind of thinking about this a little while ago because I saw yet another post from a truly ignorant person who , yet again, wants to know "why Wright's words are being taken out of context by the media?"
The true question should be, why have Wright's words never been put in the PROPER context by the mainstream, liberal media? Why has no one but internet bloggers taken the time to see what the BELIEFS of Rev. Wright are, instead of relying on soundbites? Rev. Wright has for all of his adult life believed in what is a racist theology.
When is the media going to report on that fact?
